- Nokota Horse Conservancy
- This non-profit organization, dedicated to the preservation Nokota horses, is headquartered in Linton, North Dakota. These historic horses of the northern plains are descended from Native American ponies (including horses taken from Sitting Bull) and early ranch horses. These remarkable horses survived the harsh conditions of the northern plains in wild bands since the late nineteenth century mostly in the area that became Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The National Park Service decided in the 1950s to remove or replace the wild horses and since the 1970's brothers Leo and Frank Kuntz have led the fight to save these distinctive horses and hundreds roam free on their North Dakota ranch. These beautiful and rugged horses are captivating and inspiring.
